Word 2003 to 2007

Disabling the Word 2007 Mini Toolbar

When you select text in Word 2007, the mini-toolbar appears. It is very faint to start with, but if you move your mouse over it, you'll see it in detail.

When I first saw this, I thought it was a good idea, meaning that I wouldn't have to take my mouse to the top of the screen or the menus to get to the popular text fromatting commands.

Unfortunately, I do find that it can obscure some of the text I need to see, especially if I'm dragging and dropping text to another position.

To disable the mini-toolbar:

1. Click the Office button, and select 'Word Options'

2. At the left side of the dialogue box, click 'Popular'

3. Remove the tick from 'Show Mini Toolbar on selection'

4. Click OK.
